Akshay Kumar's latest movie, Selfiee, has not performed well at the box office. The Raj Mehta-directed film, which also stars Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty in pivotal roles, has earned only Rs 6.35 crore in the first two days of its release. Since the film's poor performance, many netizens have been trolling Akshay Kumar.
Akshay Kumar Opens Up About Selfiee's Failure
In an interview with a leading portal, Akshay Kumar spoke about Selfiee's poor performance at the box office. He revealed that this was not the first time such a thing had happened to him. In his career, he has had 16 consecutive flops, and there was a time when he had eight films in a row that did not work. Now, he has had three to four films in a row that did not work.
He also stated that the audience has changed, and filmmakers need to adapt accordingly. They need to dismantle themselves and start anew, as the audience requires something else. Akshay Kumar took full responsibility for the failure of Selfiee, stating that blaming the audience or anyone else is not the answer.
If a film is not working, filmmakers should look at their choices and work to make better decisions. Perhaps they have not provided the right ingredients in the film.
Akshay Kumar's film BellBottom has also been struggling to find success at the box office since 2022. Despite Sooryavanshi becoming the first Hindi box office hit post-pandemic, his subsequent films have failed to record huge numbers.
Both Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj, released last year, were box office duds. Akshay Kumar's latest release, Selfiee, hit theatres on February 24 and made a disappointing opening collection of below ₹3 crores on the first day.
